Just built this on the VW configurator Build Your Own Portion of the site and I think it’s quite nice. However, my fiance was hoping to get 4Motion as well. Does anyone know if it will be available in the near future or are they saving 4Motion in wagon-form for the Alltrack?

4Motion should show up by 2016.

Short answer: yes but only as an auto with the 1.8t

So, don’t tell her. Gotcha!

That really sucks. That takes two musts off the list to get 4Motion. Really would like a manual diesel. Too bad they don’t offer it in brown....

I know that feel. Rocking a ‘12 tdi sportwagen manual and was brought up, and let down the prospect of an awd diesel manual wagon and then the reality that i knew was likely.

Yeah, a manual is a big deal for both of us as we just love driving them. The diesel is pretty big for us both, but I was ok staying with gas for the 4Motion. But losing both? I don’t think that will work so well. Maybe we will see if we can get an Alltrack in a manual!

the alltrack is the AWD/auto/1.8t, there will be no AWD on the regular sportwagen. I know that feel about the manual, but truely I wouldn’t worry about the diesel over the gas, the mileage is great but there are a lot of costs/issues associated with the diesel that can make it less attractive

I am familiar with the higher costs for fuel and stuff. What issues have been associated with the diesel have you heard so far?

well, this for starters. there is also the intercooling water issue, the DPF filter than costs a fortune and will likely need to be replaced at 100,000 miles and so on.

Last gen had a bunch of issues with intercoolers icing over and a lot of people have been running lubricity additives due to issues around the high pressure fuel pump.

That all said - I have a ‘13 TDI in CW with the Black V-Tex and a 6MT. I love it 95% of the time. I’ll probably go with an APR Stage 1 tune soon - can’t find anyone locally for Malone.
